FAQs

Are they real plants?

Yes! They’re all real, easy care, succulents and cacti and are locally homegrown.

What is the fluffy green stuff in your terrariums?

It is preserved and dyed Reindeer Moss. This isn’t technically a moss, but is a type of lichen. It is a real plant but is not living anymore as it is preserved. Do not water it, as the natural dyes will run out and fade.

How difficult are they to look after?

They are very easy and good for beginners., provided the instructions are followed and it is not overwatered. They can withstand a lot of neglect.

Will they die?

If you don’t care for the properly, yes they can die. All terrariums come with a care card with instructions to keep your terrarium happy.

How do I not kill it?

Follow the care instructions. Most terrariums need one tablespoon of water, every two weeks. This is a good starting point, but you may need to alter this amount depending on the conditions in your home. As a general guideline, keep them inside, in a well lit room but out of harsh direct sunlight.

Where do you get your plants from?

All plants are home grown. The faster growing ones are grown in the White Space Crafts garden, and the slower growing plants are grown by another local who has been growing them for us for five years at their home nursery.

Do you do wedding favours?

Yes! Minis and mini cubes are the most popular. Contact Us for a quote. *We don’t hire out terrariums for wedding decorations BUT you can purchase custom made terrariums for this purpose of course.

How do I water it?

A spoon is fine for many of the terrariums, or a pipette for the more complex arrangements.

Do I just spray it?

No! Absolutely not, this will rot them. Succulents don’t like water sitting on their leaves, and this is also an easy way to over water your terrarium. Pour water in carefully with a spoon or pipette so it can be measured, and so the water gets to the roots (where they drink from).

Do you make moss and fern/rainforest style terrariums?

No. These are a totally different environment/type of terrarium, and can be more difficult for beginners to care for. Dry/succulent terrariums are great for those starting on their plant-y journey, easy to care for, and suitable in a wider range of home environments. While we love rainforest style terrariums, and have quite a few of our own, they tend to be more suited to more experienced plant lovers.

Can you fill my own glassware?

Yes! Send us some photos, a front on, overhead, and angled photo make it easier for us to quote via message/email. Please also send us the dimensions in CM (height, length, width) for a more accurate quote. It helps if you have this information ready when you message us.

Do you have plants suitable for low light conditions like office buildings?

Yes! We have a variety of hardy plants that can tolerate low light conditions like offices and bathrooms, just ask which ones are best suited. We can also custom make you one to suit these specifications.
